Help shape the future of community facilities on the Hoo Peninsula

Are you interested in shaping the future of your neighbourhood?

Do you have a perspective on what community facilities the Hoo Peninsula needs?

We’re looking to take a comprehensive approach to shaping the future of the Hoo Peninsula, working in partnership with the local communities to ensure the right infrastructure and services are in place for decades to come.

Medway Council has therefore commissioned PRD, Augarde & Partners, and Urban Silence to undertake a study to consider all aspects of community life and services for the residents, businesses, and local groups on the peninsula, as well as the current and future needs of the population.

We’re creating a new community infrastructure plan to improve services for residents across the peninsula. Focusing on community, culture and leisure infrastructure, the new plan will provide a clear outline of where investments in the community are required.

A community infrastructure framework will set out what community facilities the people living on the Hoo Peninsula need now, and in the future, and how to deliver them. It will be a roadmap to support decision-making and investment.

We cannot create a community infrastructure framework without listening to local people living, working and studying on the Hoo Peninsula. To do this we’ll be establishing a community panel to work with the project team to co-design the infrastructure framework. This could include sharing what existing community facilities make the Hoo Peninsula special and identifying priorities for the future.

So far, our consultants have been running workshops with a focus group of 50 residents across the peninsula.

They will now be running a number of drop-in sessions this May which are available to anyone. You don’t need to book – just pop by.

These sessions give the people who live, work, study and visit the Hoo Peninsula the opportunity to find out more about the Community Infrastructure Framework and share their ideas.

The sessions will be taking place on the following dates:
